Johan's Ark

Johan Huiber is the man who created a replica of Noah's Ark. Its is about 450 feet long and 75 feet wide. He has sent a letter to the city's mayor, Boris Johnson, asking permission to dock in London just in time for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Flash Mob

It crazy to see how all those who recognize Jesus in the Eucharist kneel before him, those who are curious stand behind them and watch, and those who don't know or don't care keep walking, worried about their own things.

Prayer of the Week: A Humble Reliance Upon God

A PRAYER FOR A
HUMBLE RELIANCE UPON GOD.

Lord, if you withdraw your hand,
there is no grace.
If you cease to guide us,
we have no wisdom.
If you no longer defend us,
we have no courage.
If you do not strengthen us,
our chastity is vulnerable.
If you do not keep a holy watch over us,
our watchfulness cannot protect us.
By ourselves we sink, we perish;
when you are with us, we are uplifted, we live.
We are shaky, you make us firm.
We are lukewarm, you inflame us.

Amen.

St. Peter being crucified upside down.

St. Peter is best known for his place among the Apostles and his role as the first pope of the Church. Jesus changed his name from Simon to Peter and told him that he would be the rock on which he would build His church.

Some interesting facts about St. Peter
-The Apostle Andrew was Peter's brother.
-Andrew introduced Peter to Jesus who called him to become an Apostle.
-Peter was a fisherman.
-Jesus made peter the first Pope in the Gospel of Matthew:16. This is when Jesus changed his name as well.
-Peter was always listed as the first of the Apostles in all of the New Testament accounts.
-Peter cut off the right ear of a slave of the high priest Malchus.
-He also denied Christ three times as the Lord predicted.
-The first appearance of the Risen Christ was before Peter, ahead of the other disciples, and when the Lord came before the disciples at Tiberias, he gave to Peter the famous command to “Feed my lambs.... Tend my sheep.... Feed my sheep”.
-He appointed the replacement of Judas Iscariot
-He was the first Apostle to perform miracles in the name of the Lord
-St. Peter was crucified but because he felt unworthy to be crucified like Jesus he was crucified upside down. The upside down cross is actually St. Peter's cross and is a Catholic Symbol.
-While Peter’s chief feast day is June 29, he is also honored on February 22 and November 18.

Pray Together, Stay Together

Rome to consider possible miracle of 'Rosary Priest'

Fr. Patrick Peytion was the father who is best known for coming up with the motto. " The family that prays together, stays together" (He was talking about the Rosary) is attributed with a possible miracle. The Diocese of Albany has investigated the alleged miracle and will send its findings to Rome on June 28. A what-could-be-modern-day miracle. That's awesome. Check it out.

St. John the Baptist...Pray For Us

Feast of St. John the Baptist brings crowds to Roman Church

I did not know this but Friday was the Feast Day of St. John the Baptist, Jesus' cousin. In the Gospel of john it tells the story of how he was beheaded by Herod. The other thing I did not know is that his head is on display at the Church of San Silvestro. Check out the link.

For those who like to read....like me

For those who are serious about learning to explain and defend the faith, I HIGHLY recommend getting this book. It's thick and has pretty much a defense and explanation of just about everything we believe in. I can't find mine right now, but I would definitely buy it again.
